The Garces Foundation is a community-based, nonprofit organization committed to providing Philadelphia’s immigrant population the healthcare, education, and support to empower them to fulfill their potential as citizens and enjoy the highest possible quality of life.
The Garces Foundation runs four key activities directed toward immigrant populations in South Philadelphia
12-week English language instruction tailored to the restaurant industry, aimed at advancing careers.
These quarterly events deliver quality medical care to the uninsured and under-insured immigrant community of Philadelphia.
Amid the pandemic, families in our neighborhoods struggled and many of them experienced food insecurity.
The Sonrisa program delivers both routine dental care and emergency treatment for free or at low cost to the community.
In 2022, our programs had a direct impact on the health, language, and cultural skills of those we serve
Number of English class students enrolled
Retail value of cost of care provided by Sonrisa program
Largest number of patients seen during one Community Health Day
Number of free boxes of food provided
We seek volunteers to help us at our Community Health Days, especially people with dental or medical training. We are also always looking for help at our English for the Restaurant and Everyday Living program, whether your gift is with language or experience in the service industry.
