Community Health Days offer volunteer opportunities on four Saturdays a year from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. We are in need of medical doctors, nurses, and dentists to support our medical and dental examinations. In addition, there are opportunities for Spanish language speakers to help as translators or with administrative support.
Our English for the Restaurant and Every Day Living program offers volunteer opportunities at many different levels. As a volunteer teacher, you will be leading the classroom and must be committed to a 12-week period of 4-5 hours a week. If you have hospitality experience, you may volunteer to lead a restaurant skills workshop in which students learn culinary skills. As a Field Trip supporter, you will have the opportunity to lead students on field trips throughout the community (past trips include: The Barnes Foundation, City Hall, and the Constitution Center.) You may also lend a hand by providing administrative support, where you will help with student registration (Spanish language skills are required).
Our Luna Farm Field Trips begin in May and continue through September. These opportunities consist of an eight-hour day during the week and require a commitment of three field trips. Volunteers should be interested in cooking, gardening, healthy living, and enjoy engaging youth.
Special Events are a great way to get involved for those who cannot commit to an extended volunteer position. Our events include the annual Gala, a summer BBQ at Luna Farm, Young Friends activities, and staffing our tent at promotional events. We are looking for individuals with bartending or serving skills as well as people who can help with event set up.
Those with skills in grant-writing or office administration can help to support the Foundation on a flexible basis.
